About My Swimming Guide
My Swimming Guide exists to make one thing less intimidating: learning to swim as an adult. It starts with a feeling many people know well — standing at the edge of the water, sure that everyone else finds this easy — and it gets better with calm, specific, judgment-free guidance.
Who this site helps
If you're an adult who never learned to swim, or who feels nervous in the water, our Learn to Swim and Swim Skills guides break everything into small, doable steps. There's no judgment here — plenty of adults can't swim yet, and it's completely fixable. Whatever your age or starting point, you can learn.
Who writes it
The Editorial Team — Guidance grounded in American Red Cross, CDC, and YMCA water-safety resources.. My Swimming Guide is researched, written, and reviewed by our editorial team. We turn established water-safety and learn-to-swim guidance — drawing on trusted sources like the American Red Cross, the CDC, and the YMCA — into calm, practical steps for adult beginners. Our guides can't replace an in-person lesson: always learn with a qualified instructor and swim where a lifeguard is present.
How this site works
My Swimming Guide is free to read. If we ever add product recommendations or ads to help cover costs, we'll be upfront about it and only ever suggest things we'd genuinely recommend to a friend — see our affiliate disclosure for how that works.
